Lev Davidovich Bronstein (Leon Trostky, renamed after a Russian café called Trostky`s) was a key figure in the creation of the Soviet Union. He was Lenins right hand man in the Russian revolution of 1917. He then became a commissar of war in 1918 and organized the victorious red army in the civil war that followed. He then lost out in a power struggle with Stalin and was exiled to Kazakhstan . Trostky settled in Mexico where he was assassinated by a pick axe strike to the head from a probable agent of Stalin.
